Drilling machine

This is the irony of Misophonia.

We’re setting the wooden fence for our  indoor staircase… I’m pretty much sure that this is not the proper way of saying it, but you get what I mean.

So after the work I went home and of course the hallway was a mess. Expected. They were drilling the staircase numerous times and no matter that the vacuum cleaner was also on, the dust was all over the home.

They worked on the fence until 9 p.m. All the time you could hear drilling trough concrete, trough wood, nailing, sawing, vacuum cleaner and everything else involved in setting up the wooden fence. Children were nervous so I had to give them special attention because of all that noises around their heads. They couldn’t even go to bed at their usual time because of the chaos and loud sounds.

I didn’t mind.

That’s the irony.

I mind chewing but I don’t mind people drilling the concrete over my head!

It’s ridiculous, but it’s also true.

I think that every other normal person would mind those “construction” sounds all day long, but not me.

I remember when we had some construction work done, in our house few months ago. Construction workers were every day, all day, inside and outside of our house. I did mind the mess, the dust, that many people there, but I didn’t mind those strong sounds of construction work being done.

I can hear a hummer all day long bumping and nailing everything it can find and I won’t go nuts. It will eventually get on my nerves but not nearly as strong as seeing or hearing a construction worker eating.

It’s like, when I was in high school I used to live in a dorm. The dorm was in the center of the town. My room was on the first floor and my bed was right to the window/street.  Cars, car alarms, city noise were starting at 5 a.m. and  finishing around 2-3 a.m. I didn’t care, I didn’t mind. I did mind if one of my roommates was breathing a bit loudly.

When I was going to the country side, birds singing would wake me up.

“Normal” sounds will get me as much as will get a normal person, if not even less. I can pretty well tolerate some loud machine sounds, maybe more then a normal person would be able to.  But place a person next to me who will yawn three times in ten minutes and I’ll went crazy after the second yawn!

There’s currently a server in my office. The intern I mentioned earlier  was looking at the server, turning the thing on and of and on and off. When he turns the server, it’s like a space shuttle came in the office. That loud. But I don’t react, I’l make a joke and move on, let the server do its own thing. Be loud if you wish, I don’t care! But if someone comes in my office and sniff a few times while talking with me, I’ll flip out!

Ridiculous!

I love photography and learning about it. I'll try and fail that's for sure, but sometimes, I hope, I'll do good. As for the Misophonia part of the blog, I'll write honestly about my experiences and feelings, trying to help myself and others who feel the same way as I do and maybe to raise some awareness about this condition. All written here is just and only my opinion.

This is exactly the same as I experience. The neighbor can use a chainsaw for hours – no problem. But my poor BF has a nose that makes squeaky noises and it sometimes drives me nuts. The cat chews vigorously and I want to throw her out. The car makes various noises; not a problem, even my extremely patient BF reacts to those but not me. Strange.

      Lol, right?!
I mean, I’m so glad to be able to laugh with someone who understand!

It really is strange! I would like to hear a proper explanation about this phenomenon. Why we don’t react on sounds produced by machines? Instead, we go nuts about sounds that are quieter then chainsaw or else.
As for the car noises, I f.e. can’t listen to radio or music when driving. I want to hear the car, the engine, any small rock I may run over… My husband don’t want to hear the car and he’ll turn the music on.

And, that squeaky nose will be on my mind probably the whole day :)
I think you BF needs a hug. He sounds like a nice guy!
